Reckless and Aggressive Driving Add-On
This is Virginia’s 4-Hour Supplemental Reckless and Aggressive Driving Education Program. If you have already taken, or will take, an 8-hour driver improvement program (also known as a “driving clinic”, “driving school”, or “defensive driver school”, etc.), but have been ordered by the court to complete a 12-hour course, this is the course for you. This is a focused 4-hour supplemental course that must be taken along with an 8-hour Virginia driving school in order to meet the 12-hour standard. When combined with an 8-hour driving school, this 4-hour course is used to satisfy the 12-hour Reckless and Aggressive Driving Education Program (RADEP) requirement. The objective of this program is to create a lasting and corrective influence on individual driving performance – specifically regarding Reckless Driving (particularly at higher speeds).
You were most likely ordered by a court to take a 12-hr driving school or RADEP, or your lawyer advised you to take this course before court to show the judge that you are serious about correcting your driving behavior. Notably, this course does not satisfy any DMV requirements and you will not get +5 safe driver points for taking this course. The judge should know that you have no other motives for completing this course except for accepting responsibility and demonstrating a sincere effort to change your past behavior. A single mistake should not define you – this course shows the judge that you don’t take your driving privilege for granted.
This course only includes RADEP’s 4-hour focused Reckless Driving course. Specialized 4-hour driving classes are notoriously expensive. At RADEP we believe that furthering your skills as a safe driver by taking classes beyond what are generally required of the public shouldn’t be limited to those willing to spend hundreds of dollars. Our classes are very reasonably priced- allowing everyone to access the skills and awareness to become a better, safer driver.
At the end of this course you will receive a certificate showing that you have completed RADEP’s 4-Hour Reckless and Aggressive Driving Education Supplemental Program. The original certificate will be emailed to you. When accompanied by an original Virginia 8-hour driving school certificate, you will have completed RADEP – Virginia’s 12-Hour Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program.
*This course is not intended for DMV credit or safe driving points. This supplemental course is solely intended to accompany an 8-hour defensive driving course to satisfy a court requirement for a 12-hour Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program, or RADEP.*
